Alyssa Merriweather (born 29th May 1991) is a British witch, ex Nurse at St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries, and a previous Minister for Magic. She was born and raised in Bristol, United Kingdom until she attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and was sorted into Slytherin house.
Alyssa worked for many years in St Mungo's Hospital as a healer Mediwitch, a job she fulfilled until her subsequent departure due to running in the election to become Minister for Magic. It is unknown her reasons for running or why she decided to run, though she has been quoted as stating "A fresh perspective is needed."
Alyssa was married when she was just twenty one years old to a wizard named Theodore Hastings. However, in 2018 Theodore was found dead in their home and it has never been revealed his cause of death but neighbors of the young couple recall seeing a figure exiting their modest detached home in the middle of the night. She has never spoken publicly or privately about the events of that night and the mystery surrounding it has never been revealed.
Elected to the office of Minister for Magic of Great Britain and Ireland the 16th November 2026, Alyssa succeeded the Interim Minister Wilfred Bloom (her opponent in the Election of 2026) and, more officially, Minister Hannah Fischer. Alyssa remained in office until she resigned the 22nd August 2028 in the wake of the Gringotts Riot that same day and the subsequent financial crisis.
